Zach Laine

Zach Laine is a Boost author and C++ Standard Committee member. He has been writing C++ professionally for over 20 years, focusing on graphics, scientific computing, games, metaprogramming, generic programming, and good library design.

David Sankel

Principal ScientistAdobe

David Sankel is a Principal Scientist, leads Adobe's Software Technology Lab, and is an active member of the C++ Standardization Committee. His experience spans microservice architectures, CAD/CAM, computer graphics, visual programming languages, web applications, computer vision, and cryptography. He is a frequent speaker at C++ conferences and specializes in large-scale software engineering and advanced C++ topics. David’s interests include dependently typed languages, semantic domains, EDSLs, and functional reactive programming. He was the project editor of the C++ Reflection TS, is the Executive Director of the Boost Foundation, and authored several C++ proposals including pattern matching and language variants.

Michael Caisse

Senior Principal EngineerIntel

Michael started using C++ with embedded systems in 1990. He continues to be passionate about combing his degree in Electrical Engineering with elegant software solutions. Michael is a Senior Principal Engineer at Intel where he works with a talented team putting magic into silicon. He is always excited to share his discoveries with others.

When he isn't fighting with compilers or robots, he enjoys fencing with a sabre.

Bob Steagall

Bob has been working primarily in C++ since discovering the second edition of The C++ Programming Language in a college bookstore in 1992. The majority of his career has been spent in medical imaging, where he led teams building clinically-approved applications for functional MRI and CT-based cardiac visualization. After a brief detour through the worlds of DNS and analytics, he now works in the area of distributed stream processing. He is a voting member of the C++ Standardization Committee, with special interest in numerics and language evolution. He holds BS and MS degrees in Physics, is an avid cyclist when weather permits, and lives in fear of the family cats (especially Violet).

Kristen Shaker

Kristen Shaker is an accomplished software engineer known for her expertise in C++ refactoring and exceptional leadership abilities. Kristen sits on Google’s C++ Core Libraries Team. The team is responsible for making the C++ portion of Google’s code base as extensible, maintainable, and understandable as possible via start of the art refactoring tools, targeted guidance, and documentation on complex C++ topics. Kristen’s technical expertise, leadership abilities, and dedication to fostering collaboration and growth have made her a valued member of the Core Libraries Team for over six years.

Kristen primarily works at the forefront of Google's refactoring efforts, building and deploying Clang-based refactoring tools. Recently, she developed innovative tools for API migrations and type deprecations, facilitating the seamless transition of over half a million call sites and the removal of more than 600 APIs. She is currently working on automated dead code removal.
Kristen's commitment to knowledge sharing and community building is evident in her role as a founding member of the New York C++ Meetup group and on the board of the Boost Foundation.

Kristen holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Jeff Garland

CrystalClear Software

Jeff Garland has worked on many large-scale, distributed software projects over the past 40 years. The systems span many different domains including telephone switching, industrial process control, satellite ground control, ip-based communications, and financial systems. He has written C++ networked code for several large systems including the development high performance network servers and data distribution frameworks.

Mr. Garland is currently the Vice-Convenor of the C++ Committe, a member if the Directions Group, and a vice-chair of the Library Working Group. He is a co-founder and lead of the Beman project as well as the executive director of the C++Next Foundation.

Mr. Garland holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Arizona. He is co-author of Large Scale Software Architecture: A Practical Guide Using UML. He is currently Principal Consultant for his own company: CrystalClear Software, Inc.
